The Girls’ Guild Skills Training Centre was established in 2009 and it is located in Soma in the Lower River Region. The centre is a Non-governmental organisation and provide requisite skills for school drop-outs especially the girl child. It is the only type of training provider with a special focus on female trainee in the whole of rural Gambia. It is a non-political organization that supports young women in the rural areas to develop their skills in Home science. The centre used to enrol twenty–five students (25) per intake with support by St. Guilds of Denmark. The centre used to provide national certificate in home economics.
